Q |
What is a charter school? How is LNCS different from CMS schools? |
 |
A |
A charter school is a deregulated public school. It typically has more freedom and flexibility than a school can get through magnet status or waivers. Charter schools are typically smaller than regular schools, and typically focus on a new curriculum approach, a new school organization approach or some other features that set them apart from what a regular public school would offer. |

Q |
My students have a doctor’s appointment during school hours. What is the process to pick them up early? |
 |
A |
Parents who wish to pick students up for an appointment should come into the office and sign them out. The students will be called from the classroom. Please note that students will only be released to a parent, someone on the students' emergency contact list, or with a note from a parent. Please note that the high school and middle school observe a 30 minute quiet time at the end of the school day. If a student has an appointment after school that requires them to leave early, they should be signed out in the high school before 2:15 and the middle school before 2:30. No student may be signed out during the quiet time period. |
